Welcome to Daisy Mae's place!

Daisy Mae is a special dog. She was born with birth defects that have made her life difficult but her life is lived with much energy and a wonderful "can do" attitude.

Daisy's story is not a sad one but one that is full of love and compassion for a small yellow dog with crazy eyes. Daisy was found abandoned at six weeks old and taken to the Cowlitz County Animal Shelter. The word was put out that she needed a home and was fostered for many months by a wonderful family whom Daisy loved very much. Daisy eventually found a permanent home but within a few months, the demands of a handicapped dog were too much and she was put back into rescue with an organization in near Seattle. The group, Rescue Pup made sure she had all that she needed until another home could be found. She had all the medical tests and therapy to help her but it was all very expensive. The word was put out and Komo TV's Problem Solvers came to the rescue with a feature on her story and Daisy became a little bit of a media star in the effort to find a suitable home for her.

I work for a great veterinary practice, Tumwater Veterinary Hospital  and we were just about to open a new animal rehabilitation center in Tumwater, complete with water therapy and it felt like a match made in heaven. Daisy joined our family in May 2008 and is a daily fixture at the Four Paws Rehabilitation Center where we do therapy every day and Daisy has quite a following with our patients where she greets everyone at the door.

Daisy Mae is a happy dog and has a great knack for bringing comfort to the owners of newly handicapped pets. She seems to be able to convey to them that it is going to be alright and she lets them know that their pets can still have full and happy lives and that a handicap is just a little inconvenience, not a detriment to their quality of life.
